blue.
well. it's not my favourite colour but it's given me a chance so i shall give it one.
ok that was a little random, although perhaps insightful...
but anyways, back to the reason i was writing this post. besides the fact that a silly myspace quiz, (whose entire purpose is to waste time), reminded me that i hadn't blogged in almost a week, (and that i needed to set a reminder in my phone) i thought i should blog to say that today i got a job at jamaica blue.
I saw on careerone last weekend that they were looking for someone, so i decided to hand in my resume today, before i went off to ashley's for a games/gilmore girls watching day. so i did. and then i went off to ashley's. just as i was about to stop the car outside of her house my phone started vibrating, but i missed it. the person left a message on my voicemail so i checked it, and it was the owner of jamaica blue. he said that he was at the store and if i could come back to talk to him that would be good. so i left ashley's and went back to the shops to see the man. and we talked. and he asked if i wanted to have a trial. i was a bit nervous and not sure whether i was ready (and wondered if i should go back to ashley's, seeing as i was only there for about 10 mins before i left, and i'd said i was coming over for the day) but i decided i should take the opportunity and do it. so i did.
I was the 'runner', which basically is listening for the bell (for coffee) or person saying 'order up' (for food) and taking the coffees and food to people's tables and taking their table numbers and clearing tables and washing dishes (in the dishwasher) and rolling up forks and knives in serviettes and other random stuff which requires being alert and listening at all times. which i'm finding can be a little difficult for me, seeing as i can drift off in my thoughts easily while i'm doing something (like the dishes).
but the owner guy said i did well for someone on their first day (who has no previous experience). and i think i got the hang of it. and apparently i was a big help, 'cause they were short-staffed seeing as another girl was meant to come in for a trial but didn't.
so i was there from about 11 til 3, and now i'm employed :)
now i just have to call domino's and quit... hopefully they haven't given me a shift for wednesday 'cause i'm working at j.b. all day. and i need to get friday off anyways 'cause of youth...
hm.
but yes. i have a job. and i can continue to save to go away. can't wait :)
